A Welding Inspector ensures welds meet quality and safety standards by inspecting them visually and through non-destructive testing, reviewing procedures, and verifying compliance with industry codes and specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
*Visual Inspection: Examine welds for defects like cracks, porosity, and incomplete penetration.
*Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Utilize methods like radiography, ultrasonic testing, and magnetic particle testing to assess weld quality.
*Procedure Review: Review welding procedures and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
*Material Verification: Verify the use of specified base and filler metals.
*Safety Compliance: Ensure all welding activities are conducted safely, adhering to relevant regulations and company policies.
*Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
*Communication: Communicate findings and recommendations to welders, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
*Equipment Inspection: Inspect welding equipment to ensure it is in good working order and properly calibrated.
*Contract Review: Review contract requirements and vendor/contractor compliance.
*Interpreting Drawings: Interpret construction drawings and specifications.
*May be required to work in fabrication or welding at the needs of the business.
*Must have their own equipment, tools and PPE for the required trade/skill.
Experience Required:
*Must be a welder and have experience with MIG, TIG and Stick welding.
*Experience in steel and aluminum metal work is preferable.
*CNC operator experience preferred.
*Must have at least one year of prior experience in inspection, quality control and equipment maintenance. #time123
