TLC Machine Operator Casing Room Job Description:
Job Description Summary:
The casing room operator operates production machinery for packaging finished products into sleeves and/or master cases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Gather all needed documents from the fondu office
-Supply machine with proper supplies
-Verify that sleeves (3 pack), master cases, and product match and have the correct date
-Operate electric dolly
-Operate 3 pack and casing machines following work instructions
-Check to ensure both video dater and hand dater have the correct date
-Load cases onto pallet
-Observe finished product, discards and replaces cheese that does not meet quality standards
-Repackage cheese when outer box is damaged, but cheese is not
-Transfer all waste cheese to proper containers
-Clear jams on overhead and lower conveyor to keep production running smoothly
-Record package information every 20 minutes
-Record which area you are working in and rest periods
-Keep immediate work area clean and free of messes
-Follows all good manufacturing practices as stated within the policy
-Follows all safety rules and procedures by working safely and ensuring safety of others
-Follows all food safety procedures
-Follows all environmental protocols as applicable to job to prevent pollution to air, land, and water
-Follows all sanitation procedures and work instructions
-Follows all continuous improvement actions and rules and best practices
-Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by management
Qualifications and Competencies:
-Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent
-Ability to understand oral and written instructions
-Ability to function as a team member and contribute to group goals
-Ability to operate a variety of equipment such as an electric dolly (must obtain electric dolly operator certification)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands to touch objects or controls. The employee is occasionally required to reach above shoulders, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs while performing production duties.
Work environment:
The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. There may be abundant fine particles in the air of powdered ingredients. Some of which can be irritating. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed largely in a manufacturing environment. Hours of work will generally be at least 40 hours a week. At times there will be some variation in work hours due to special projects, deadlines, and other concerns. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Protective Equipment:
Employees must wear safety glasses, slip resistant steel toe safety footwear, protective gloves, a hair net, tyvex apron, and ear protection, as required.
