Priority Personnel is hiring a Machine Shop Lead for a manufacturing company located in New Braunfels, TX.

Pay rate: $21.50/hour

Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday/6:00am-4:30pm

Job Duties:

  • Supports the development of weekly machine shop production schedule and serves as the lead worker in machine operator activities.
  • Assures machine operators have an adequate supply of raw material and supplies needed to perform their functions; calculates the amount of stock required for work orders.
  • Sets up and adjusts machinery according to print specifications and safety requirements.
  • Adjust to secure required dimensions and quality on production runs.
  • Produces samples (first piece) for inspection and inspects production piece parts for proper dimensions/specifications using various measuring equipment and test fractures.
  • Completes in-process inspection and places the product on hold/containment if needed. Reports production delays and quality concerns/variances immediately to supervisor.
  • Works from drawings, patterns, templates, process sheets, or samples.
  • Instructs and assists machine operators in the proper performance of machine and assembly operations while abiding by safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Supports production department with machine part production lead times as needed.
  • Provides training and assistance to machine shop staff. Trains new hires.
  • Operates forklifts, man-lifts, and shop machines as needed to meet production needs.
  • Machines prototype or production parts using manual and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machines, shop equipment, and precision measuring tools.
  • Programs and operates Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machine to produce prototypes or production parts.
  • Enters daily scrap for inventory control and for improvement analysis.
  • Maintain appearance standards, presence, and professional communication skills.
  • Ensures employee needs are met, time off requests reviewed and timely responses to requests/concerns to ensure a high level of employee dignity and respect.
  • Ensure daily communication with each employee a minimum of twice per day. Ensure equal attention among team members to avoid the perception of differential treatment.
  • Report building, equipment sanitation, OSHA, and Safety concerns immediately.
  • Responsible for assigned areas of oversight, efficiency, productivity, accountability, and production to minimize backlog and meet business objectives, and increase profitability. Elimination of loitering of all personnel.
  • Monitor assigned team members’ attendance and performance: Document and report assigned team members’ policy/procedure violation(s) and/or performance deficiencies timely and follow thru with support for applicable and appropriate corrective action.
  • Assists in recordkeeping related to job orders/production, attendance, and performance.
  • Begin and end shift on time consistently and report delays immediately.
  • Approves timecards/payroll as needed.
  • Supports manager in the development and administration of departmental operating budget, goals, objectives, and performance measurements (KPIs).
  • Supports manager in the development and maintenance of key performance indicators (KPIs) to track efficiencies and improvement opportunities etc…
  • Supports manager in solving problems or conflict by interpreting and applying policy.
  • Supports manager in development and maintenance of machine shop succession plan and cross-training to ensure business continuity.
  • Maintains the cleanliness, organization, quality control, and safety of the work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED) certificate and two years’ machine shop experience.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and cross-training experience. Associates Degree and 3 years experience in a machine shop manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Attentive to detail with good planning time management skills, and willing to assume a variety of machine shop-related tasks. Knowledge of metal properties is required.
  • Ability to maintain records; document, compile and organize reports accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and advanced skills operating shop machinery and equipment
  • Skill in programming and operating Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations and using precise measuring devices
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull or otherwise move objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or frequently.
