Client Needs a Solution to Improve Worker Safety
The Challenge
Hamilton-Ryker served this client location from 1991 to 2007. Corporate moved the business to another vendor, but we were given the opportunity to renew our close relationship in 2012.
Hamilton-Ryker returned on-site to resolve the client’s safety concerns.
Our Solution
Hamilton-Ryker proposed a new orientation process. The new process would train employees on best safety practices.
Implementation
By diving into the client’s operations and working hand in hand with their HR department, Hamilton-Ryker developed a new orientation process.
Results
The new orientation process is a three- to-five day course that incorporates instructor-led training, hands-on coursework and several computer courses on safety and standard work procedures. These courses would be completed before the employee ever steps foot on the floor. The first week on the job is not on the shop floor, but focused on learning and incorporating a culture of safety. This is a value add for this safety-minded client.
Hamilton-Ryker now averages between 150 and 200 temps year-round at the client location, all of which go through this orientation process. Since 2012, there have only been 19 recordable safety incidents in over 2,040,000 work hours.
