Job Overview

We are seeking a Mid-Career Wastewater Engineer to join our growing Surface Water team in Phoenix, AZ. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment on complex wastewater and surface water management projects for both public and private clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in the planning, design, and implementation of wastewater infrastructure, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. This is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and lead wastewater and surface water projects, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, wastewater treatment facilities, and stormwater master planning.
  • Conduct flood studies, drainage analysis, and design, including bridge hydraulics and green infrastructure planning.
  • Prepare engineering reports, feasibility studies, regulatory submittals (CLOMR/LOMR for FEMA), and design documents for wastewater and surface water projects.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, and project budgets.
  • Perform hydraulic/hydrology studies and assist with stormwater capital improvement project (CIP) development.
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams, government agencies, and contractors to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality project delivery.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality and efficiency.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
  • Engage in business development efforts, including client relationship management and proposal preparation.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of relevant wastewater or surface water engineering experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modeling software, including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, HydroCAD, SWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and StormCAD.
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports, regulatory submittals, and feasibility studies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced consulting environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a strong ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to lead projects, manage clients, and mentor junior staff.
