Machine Operator 3rd Shift
POSITION OBJECTIVES:
¨ Set up and operate different packaging equipment.
¨ Identify acceptable or unacceptable product quality per customer requirements both before and after product is packed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
¨ Make minor adjustments to machinery as needed.
¨ Supply own hand tools.
¨ Supply/load trays, flexible packaging or cartons into machines.
¨ Perform required housekeeping to keep work areas clean such as sweeping, putting trash in trash containers, picking up product from floor.
¨ Perform necessary assignments on line.
¨ Have successfully gone through Lock Out Tag Out training.
¨ Count product as needed.
¨ Must be able to observe machine operations at all times.
¨ Place product or scrap into designated color-coded containers.
¨ Visually identify quality or bad product before and after it is packed. Remove/sort unacceptable product.
¨ Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s) at all times.
¨ Verbally communicate instructions, problems, etc. to co-workers, supervisors and employees from all departments.
¨ Work independently with minimal supervision.
¨ Follow Company attendance policies for start and end time for work as scheduled.
¨ Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
¨ Comply with company rules, regulations and policies.
¨ Set scales and metal detectors.
¨ Perform other functions as assigned; e.g. such as the functions of a packer during production slow downs as needed.
¨ Foreign materials found in product or ingredient needs to be reported to a supervisor immediately.
¨ Read scales to check packaging weights and adjust packaging machines accordingly.
¨ Read and understand bagger/cartoner/code date programs.
¨ Assist packaging employees with rewraps.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
¨ Ability to lift/move up to 100lbs with little assistance.
¨ Push/pull items up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
¨ Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
¨ Reaching with arms/hands throughout shift.
¨ Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting during shift.
¨ Ability to see, hear, and talk.
¨ Ability to work in moderate noise levels; hearing protection is required in all areas.
¨ Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
¨ Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
¨ Stand eight hours or longer per shift.
¨ Posse’s basic math skills for counting, adding and subtracting. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
¨ Will climb over and under equipment to reach work areas throughout facility.
¨ Will climb stairs and ladders to platforms that are 7-10 feet high.
¨ Work in fast paced environment in close proximity to others.
¨ Ability to distinguish colors and know what they mean.
¨ Ability to work in variable temperatures, weather conditions and wet, humid areas.
¨ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
¨ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form.
¨ Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
¨ Will work near moving mechanical parts and be exposed to fumes, airborne particles and vibration.
¨ Communicate in English and acknowledge or give instructions to solve problems.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
¨ Prefer high school graduate or G.E.D.
¨ Basic math and reading skills.
¨ Ability to work with bagger, cartoner computer programs.
¨ Basic mechanical skills.
¨ Have successfully gone through Lock Out Tag Out training.
¨ Must be able operate three types of machines independently and efficiently.

¨ Trouble shoot and repair minor mechanical problems; loose pins, no pins, bent pins, wires off, etc.
¨ Take cream percentage; adjust speed and cream.
