Die Set up Operator
SET-UP / OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT: Production
REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor
SUMMARY: Set-up dies and operate press to form parts.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
- Read and follow work instructions
- Drive a tow motor
- Install dies into presses.
- Adjust the press settings according to the set-up instructions
- Direct press operators
- Prepare necessary paperwork such as production logs etc.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos including documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year experience in die setup preferred
AUTHORITY of this position allows the individual to:
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system.
- Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
- Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels and/or procedures.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
- Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
